HSRC Pool Rules

 

I.       General Provisions

A.     The following rules and regulations are for the protection and benefit of all Hanarry Swim & Racquet Club, Inc. (HSRC or the Club) members. These rules have been established to assure safe and sanitary operation of the pool facilities. Parents are requested to caution their children and guests to observe all rules and obey the authority. Any failure to comply with these rules will be considered sufficient cause for suspension/termination of their membership in compliance with the methods set forth in these rules and those in the By-Laws. Any objection to a responsible person’s decision must be made in writing to the President. Please save yourself and the Club embarrassment by complying with these regulations, which are being enforced to preserve the health and safety of all pool members.

B.     These rules and regulations may be revised or added to at any time by the Board of Directors or Pool Committee. The latest copy will be posted at the pool and on our website at www.hanarry.org.  Suggestions and recommendations by club members are welcome and may be submitted in writing to the Board or at a general meeting.

C.    HSRC, its Board of Directors, and their contractors do not assume any responsibility for the loss or damage to any personal property.  DO NOT BRING VALUABLES TO THE POOL.

D.    HSRC, its Board of Directors, and any of their contractors do not assume any responsibility.  Members or their guests can have no claim against the Club, for any accident or injury to any person on HSRC property.  All person(s) assume their own risk and take full responsibility for their actions while on Club property.

E.     Only Board Members or authorized Contractors will be permitted on HSRC property during closed hours.

F.     Unclaimed towels and articles of clothing will be disposed of at the end of every month.   The Lost and Found area is located inside the clubhouse on the lower level near the Guard Room. Please check this area periodically for any personal belongings.

G.    Members, their family or guests may not reprimand Guards or other Contractors of HSRC.  Suggestions or complaints should be directed to the Pool Committee Chairperson or any Board member.

H.     The pool may be closed for maintenance operations, health conditions, weather, or any reason deemed sufficient by the Guards, Pool Committee Chairperson or any Board Member.  Notification will be given when practicable.  When the pool closed everyone must vacate the pool and pool deck until the pool is re-opened.  

I.         All members must present their ID at the pool gate when entering the pool area, or when asked by the guard on duty.

J.      Adult Swim.  During the day, the last 15 minutes of each hour shall be reserved for adult swim. Adult Swim will be called by the Guards every quarter (15 minutes) till the hour. All swimmers under the age of 16 must exit the water completely. Children may not dangle their feet in the water or sit on the stairs. Guards will use this time as a break to straighten the pool and get out of the sun.

II.     Pool Hours

Monday – Saturday                  11:00 A.M. – 9:00 P.M.

Sunday                                      12:00 noon – 9:00 P.M.

Home Swim Meet Days          Pool closes at 3:00 P.M.

 

III.    Health and Safety Regulations

A.     During normal pool hours children 8 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult (at least 16 years old).  Children who will be 9 by the end of the year do not have to be accompanied by an adult, subject to the following conditions:

Children 9 years through 12 years entering the pool unaccompanied by an adult must, to the satisfaction of the Pool Manager and/or Guards, be able to:
1.  Swim three lengths of the pool without touching the bottom.
2.  Tread water for 1˝ minutes in the deep end of the pool.
3.  Go off the diving board and swim to the ladder.

A.     The wading pool is for the benefit of children under 6 years.

B.     No child may be left unattended in the wading pool area.

C.     No Guard is on duty at the wading pool.

D.     Any child unable to keep his/her head above the water in any part of the main pool must have supervision acceptable to the Guards. The supervisor (parent/sitter) must be either with the child or sitting at the edge of the pool within close proximity of the child. At the discretion of the guards, the supervisor and child may be evicted from the pool if the supervisor is not supervising the activities of the child in the main pool or wading pool.

E.      Children who are not potty-trained must wear disposable or swim diapers covered by waterproof rubber pants with snug fitting elastic legs and waist when using either the main or wading pool.  A swimsuit must be worn over the rubber pants and diapers.  Any contamination to either pool will result in the pools being closed for 24 hours.

F.      Only bathing suits are permitted in the pool.

G.     Spitting or blowing one’s nose in the pool is strictly forbidden.

H.     Persons having a skin disease, inflamed eyes, cold or nasal or ear discharge, or any communicable disease, will be excluded from the pool.

I.        Persons having open blisters, cuts or skin abrasions are advised not to use the pool due to risk of possible infection.

J.       No hairpins or metal objects are allowed in the pool.  We strongly advise against wearing earrings in the pool.

K.    No beverages in glass containers are allowed in the pool area.

L.      No dogs or other animals will be permitted in the pool area.

M.   Smoking is not allowed inside the pool fence area or the clubhouse with the exception of the back deck overlooking the deep end. Please use the ashtrays provided in the designated area.  Smokers are responsible for cleaning up after themselves.  

N.    A complete first-aid kit will be available at all times in the clubhouse.  All injuries and illnesses must be reported to the Guards or a Board Member immediately.

O.    Each Member is responsible for cleaning up after themselves and their guests.  All trash must be placed in the trashcans.

 

IV.    Conduct

A.     General Pool Conduct - HSRC has a code of conduct to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all Members and their guests while using the facilities. Each Member must adhere to the rules and ensure their children and guests adhere to the rules. 

1.      No offensive or abusive language will be tolerated.

2.      Requests by a Guard must be obeyed.

3.      Any behavior construed to be disrespectful or improper conduct towards the Guards or any other Member shall not be tolerated and will be considered a violation of pool rules.

4.      No diving in less than 5 feet of water.

5.      No talking to Guards while they are on duty.

6.      No pushing or throwing anyone into the pool.

7.      No running or horseplay allowed in the pool area.

8.      No game or activity that, deemed by the lifeguard, is dangerous or inhibits others ability to swim.

9.      Water pistols/guns will be allowed at the discretion of the Guards.  Shooting people with a water gun in the head or without their permission is not allowed under any circumstance.

10. Guards shall use their discretion to determine what objects (balls, rafts or floats) may be allowed in the pool.

 

B.     The Deep End.

1.      The diving board takes priority of the deep end when it is in use and should be used with care at all times.

2.      No one who cannot swim will be allowed in the deep end or off the diving board.

3.      No floatation devices are to be worn in the deep end.

4.      Divers should be sure the pool is clear below the diving area before making a dive. 

5.      The diver will not go until the previous diver has reached the side of the pool or ladder.

6.      Only one person is allowed on the diving board at a time.

7.      No hanging or sitting on the diving board.

8.      Excessive bouncing on the diving board is not allowed.

9.      Closing the diving board to allow games to be done at the discretion of the Guards.

 

V.           Pool Guest Privileges

 

A.     Guests of members are welcome when accompanied by the inviting member.

B.     Guest fees are $2.00 per guest per visit.

C.    Guests who live within the membership area as defined in the bylaws (see below) will only be allowed to visit the pool three times a month, no matter who the host member is on each occasion.  This does not apply to babysitters/caregivers or long-term houseguests.

D.    HSRC Bylaws, Article III, Section 1 – Hanarry Membership Area defined.
Membership in the Hanarry Swim & Racquet Club, Inc. shall consist of Homeowners in the Hanarry Estates area, which is bounded by Highway 78 on the South, Rockbridge Road to the West, Highway 29 to the North, and Gloster Road/Oak Road/Highpoint Road to the East.

E.     Guest fees will not apply to babysitters/caregivers.  Members must notify the Pool Committee in writing of the babysitter/caregiver’s name.  The babysitter/caregiver must sign the guest book each visit.  Babysitters will be considered guests when parents are with the children at the pool and subject to other pool guest privileges as defined herein.

F.     Guest fees will not apply to long-term houseguests.  Members must notify the Pool Committee in writing with the long-term houseguest’s name and length of stay.

 

VI.        Club Property/Equipment

A.     No property or furnishings shall be removed from the club premises without prior Board approval.

B.     No writing or defacement of walls or property will be permitted.

C.    Members will be responsible to the club for any debts, damages or breakage caused by misuse by them or their guests.

 

VII.  Enforcement

A.     The enforcement of all pool rules and regulations are entrusted to the Board, Pool Chairperson and the Guards.

B.     The Guards, Pool Committee Chairperson or any Board Member will have the authority to expel persons from the pool for violating pool rules, abusing pool property or misconduct.

C.    Disobeying a request by the Guards will be considered a violation of Pool Rules and be subject to discipline which may include for children under the age of 18 tasks such as picking up trash, sitting in a “penalty area” for a designated time or being asked to leave the pool property for a designated time period.  Adults will be asked to leave the pool.

 

D.    Disregard of the pool rules or disrespect of the Guards may cause a member to have their membership suspended or terminated at the discretion of the Board as noted in the Bylaws.
